PROFESSOR AHARON MAMAN ON FGP FGP has taken giant strides toward the advancement of Genizah research, in terms of facilitating accessibility of materials via the Internet, enabling their systematic survey, and even in their processing and translation. FGP achievements in one decade alone have no precedent in the entire history of Genizah research. I myself have made invaluable discoveries in relation to my personal research on 10th-11th century Hebrew philologists. No less important, FGP has established a group of researchers and assistants whose principal occupation is Genizah research. If FGP will continue to support it, this would constitute the nucleus of an Israeli research center in the field of humanities, along the lines of the French CNRS or the Spanish CSIS. Professor Maman is Head of the Mandel Institute of Jewish Studies at The Hebrew University, Jerusalem
